Hi Internet! My name is Matt and this is my first post on this blog. I am a thirty-something (at the time of this writing) man living in the North Carolina Piedmont. As the title of this blog indicates, I love kayaking and mostly paddle by myself, in solitude. I also have a number of other interests, which include: running, computers (mainly Linux), books, writing, religion, cars, NBA basketball, railroads, history, and cats. I enjoy exploring new places, but also find joy in visiting certain places repeatedly throughout the week, as well as spending time relaxing in my own place, a little house on a small pond surrounded by forest.
I set up this site as a place to share my thoughts and experiences. I already keep a private journal, but it tends to focus on the day-to-day events. My goal with this is to express myself somewhat honestly to the world, even if nobody actually reads it, as who actually reads blogs nowadays? I live my life mostly in solitude, thinking about the world, but have a strong desire to put my thoughts in words. I hope this will one day find its way into the Internet Archive.
Some of my posts might be about lighter topics, such as my kayaking or running trips. Others might delve into deeper topics such as my faith, society, loneliness, and struggles with depression.
Thank you for reading!
